QCDA Visit

On Wednesday 4th November students and staff were interviewed by a QCDA ( Qualifications and Curriculum Development Authority) consultant to discuss our use of the Assessing Pupils’ Progress frameworks, in both English and Maths, and in some of the foundation subjects.

The APP frameworks enable students to know where they are in their learning and to identify their next steps, i.e. how to get to the next level.

These are now used by all teachers and students when assessing progress in English and Maths and have proved to be very useful. Our aim at Ratton is to develop similar frameworks to use in all other subjects.

The QCDA are particularly interested in this initiative and are interested in hearing about the work we are doing in this area. Mr Baxter, QCDA, described the work that we are doing in this respect as ‘cutting edge’ nationally in the field of assessment.

He congratulated the students on the contribution that they made to the day and their comments were both helpful and informative. We are looking forward to receiving a copy of the Case Study which we hope ultimately to be able to publish on our website.
