Fair Trade

Fairtrade Fortnight

A huge thank you to all those involved in making Fairtrade fortnight a successful one. We enjoyed Fairtrade cakes, tea and coffee in the LRC and raised over £95 for BookAid and SASBAH (on behalf of the Interact rotary group).

Student leaders were involved in delivering assemblies every day of last week and we thank the teachers who were blind folded for the Fairtrade chocolate tasting.

Year 7s particated in a Fairtrade quiz and I would like to congratulate the students below who scored highly in their tutor groups. Well done!

Daniel 7CMp, Louise, Amy and Sophie 7VKi, Emily SCe, Amy ADe, Aimee LCu, Harry, Millie and Jodie 7DPo, Joe, Bradley and Gareth 7NZi.

We have also decorated 191 Fairtrade flags to help beat the world record for longest Fairtrade bunting... so thanks to all those who took part!
Don't forget to continue supporting Fairtrade throughout the year!

If the Millenium Goals are achieved, this would greatly help the people Fairtrade are supporting so please do your bit and sign this petition

Why Fairtrade is important to Ratton School

Ratton is a school that promotes caring students and by supporting Fairtrade we are showing that our staff and students care for the world around us.

It's only fair that the people who produce what we eat, wear and use should get paid enough to live on and a chance to improve their lives.

Fairtrade... for the whole school

  • means the school gets local and national recognition
  • supports lots of other initiatives (such as Eco-Schools, International Schools Award, Healthy Schools)
  • contributes to making the world a fairer place

    Fairtrade... for students

    • helps to develop lots of new skills
    • has a positive influence on the school community
    • is part of something that’s happening all over the country and around the world
    • fun!

      Fairtrade... for teachers

      • provides opportunities to enhance many areas of the curriculum and explore citizenship from a global perspective
      • gives pupils an opportunity to participate and take responsibility for their decisions
      • encourages critical thinking, and offers opportunities for challenge and confidence building.
      • contributes to ‘Every Child Matters’
