U.15 Girls In County Cricket Finals
The U.15 girls represented Ratton at the 8-a-side County cricket finals on Wednesday 21st June, having been shortlisted from the previous tournament rounds held earlier this term. They competed against schools from the Brighton area being the only Eastbourne school to make it through to this round. Other schools included: Shoreham Academy, Millais, Cardinal Newman and Warden Park.
The girls were not put off by the heat and consistently demonstrated excellent bowling and batting skills. Indeed, the team hit a large number of 4's and 6's which resulted in very high scores in all of their games. Special mention should go to Katie Cooper, Connie Wallis and captain Leah Upton all who consistently hit retirement scores of 20. Indeed in 3 out of 4 games the team scored over 90 runs off 7 overs. Ratton was the highest scoring team in the tournament but luck was not on their side as they were beaten by Warden Park by only one run, preventing them from going through to the National finals.
The should all be congratulated for their excellence, team spirit and sportsmanship attitude throughout. Maddy Lewis even continued to play with her foot in a support cast having inflamed a serious ankle injury the week before. They were a credit to the school!
Team line up: Leah Upton (Captain), Rachel Davis (Vice- Captain), Katie Cooper, Connie Wallis, Maddy Lewis, Jess Blake, Jess Hasib, Beth Lenihan, Rebecca Marshall Mccleave, Munise Hussein.
Well done girls and you were so unlucky not to get through!!!
