Trips and Excursions

At Ratton School we are very proud of the fine range of high quality extra-curricular opportunities we are able to offer our students. Parents are amazed by the range of opportunities we offer and our students often find it difficult to decide what not to do!

We have received the “International Schools Award” in recognition of the scale of travel opportunities we offer our students. These include Japan, America and Uganda as well as regular trips and exchanges to France, Germany and Italy.

Tate Modern Trip

On the 16th January students studying GCSE  Art  and  Textiles  went  to  the Tate  Modern  on  London's  South  Bank. The   objective   of   the   trip   was   to launch the new exam, where they are given 14 weeks to create a portfolio of work and a final piece during a ten hour set time frame. Many   commented   on   the   fabulous architecture, both inside and out of the gallery.  We were very fortunate to   be   blessed   with   fine   weather during our time there. The  art  within  the  Tate  Modern  is designed  to  challenge  perceptions  of what  Art,  beauty  and  humanity  are/mean    and    can    be    represented. Hopefully  this  trip  will   inspire  our talented  students  to  take  risks  with their  work.

Christmas Shopping in Lille

On  Saturday  13th December  we  took  32  students  to Lille  to  visit  the  Christmas  market. We  travelled  to Lille  by  coach  and  spent  a  couple  of  hours  visiting the market and the old town of Lille. It  was  a  most  enjoyable  trip  and  it  was  the  perfect opportunity  for  students  to  use  their  French  and  to experience the unique atmosphere in the market and even do some last minute Christmas shopping!

New York Trip

On the 13th February, a group of GCSE Performing Arts students jetted off to the Big Apple for the trip of a lifetime! Students visited the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Chinatown, The Lincoln Centre, The Museum of Modern Art and soaked up the view from the top of the Empire State Building. They also saw two Broadway shows ‘Matilda’ and ‘Aladdin’ and of course, shopped until they dropped!
