What we need you to do
If you’ve recently changed your contact details, please inform the school office as soon as possible.
Talk to your children about the coronavirus. Some children may find this frightening; we should make sure children feel supported. BBC Newsround has regular updates for younger children and Young Minds has practical steps older children can take to help with anxiety.
Check that your child has access to Ratton School Website, and let us know if there are any issues (so we can make sure we’re well prepared for remote learning if the school does need to close at some point).
If you have any questions
Please consult the guidance documents below that may be able to address your concerns. Otherwise please contact us via the school office and we will be happy to help.

We are delighted to announce that our Year 11s will have their Graduation Assembly and Year Group Photograph today.
Updated Key Workers
The government has asked parents to keep their children at home, wherever possible, and asked schools to remain open only for those children who absolutely need to attend.
Schools are being asked to continue to provide care for a limited number of children - children who are vulnerable and children whose parents are critical to the Covid-19 response and cannot be safely cared for at home.
- Health and social care
- Education and childcare
- Key public services
- Local and national government
- Food and other necessary goods
- Public safety and national security
- Utilities, communication and financial services
Following a Government announcement these include children supported with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and those currently supported with a social worker.
19th March 2020
As you will be aware, we are closing for the vast majority of students with effect from the end of the week until further notice in accordance with government instructions. We will remain open for students who have EHCPs, Local Authority Looked After Children and children of key workers. We need to know urgently which children are likely to attend whose parents are key workers. Children who do not fall into these categories should remain at home with appropriate care.
Keyworkers in these circumstances include:
- Medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, midwives, paramedics
- Other health workers - such as employment in a medical/health setting
- Police force and Fire Brigade
- Education - teachers, workers in a school or pre-school setting
- Supermarket workers
- Delivery or lorry drivers
In order that we can make the necessary planning for Monday morning could you please let us know if you fit the above criteria of a key worker and if you wish for the school to provide provision for your child from next Monday until the school reopens fully. If you feel you do not fit into any of the categories above, but still work in critical infrastructure please reply with information. We need to know both the name of your child and which key worker grouping you fit into. Please respond to this email should you feel you are eligible by midday Friday 20th of March to email@example.com
